The effects of a short-term supplementation with Yarrowia Equinox in horses and ponies.

A study of the effectiveness of Yarrowia Equinox on a small group of horses and ponies was carried out at the veterinary clinic in Heringsdorf, eastern Holstein, Germany by veterinarian Kristin Höper, in July and August 2014.

8-year-old mare, Trakehner

Before supplementation:
  • atrophy of neck and back muscles
  • anemia
  • rough and matt coat
  • intestinal disorders
After supplementation:
  • regeneration of neck, back and hindquarters muscle mass
  • shiny, smooth coat
  • improvement of overall condition and performance
  • faeces with a physiological consistency
  • increase in the level of blood iron (without increasing its dose in the fodder its level in the blood level equalized --- Yl yeast caused overall increase in the absorption of nutrients by the digestive tract and, thanks to which the mare's body began to absorb iron more efficiently)

After supplementation

13-year-old mare, Holstein breed

Before supplementation:
  • developed dysbiosis (due to the presence of Candida yeast in the gut)
  • recurrent skin and mucous cracks on both sides of the lips
  • zinc deficiency
  • bad hoof condition
After supplementation:
  • improvement in skin structure at the corner of the mouth was observed just after 14 days, after 3 weeks - healed
  • shiny, smooth coat
  • no improvement in hoof condition (period of supplementation too short)
  • satisfactory level of zinc in the blood (another proof that effective support of the intestinal flora by Yl yeast results in better absorption of minerals from the fodder thus compensating for deficiency of elements)

11-year-old mare, Irish breed

Before supplementation:
  • intestinal flora disorders
  • fungal infections of the gastrointestinal tract (presence of Candida and Stachybotrys)
  • recurrent diarrhea
  • overweight and poor performance
After supplementation:
  • reducing the occurrence of diarrhea until its complete resolution after 3 weeks
  • presence of Candida and Stachybotrys, but no dysbiotic symptoms of the digestive system
  • no weight reduction, but increased body efficiency
  • improvement of the overall condition
